Dr. Emer is hosting this week’s Grand Rounds Vol 2 (35) in a medical journal format many of us are familiar with. Not that you don’t already know this but TV re-enforces our sedentary lifestyles. It also appears that TV slows us down even when we’re working out.
Three quarters of gym members schedule their work-outs to coincide with a television programme, according to a survey by the Leisure Connection chain. Watching TV while working out, the [...]

But today I found a story about sixth-grader Karl Bielser who’s waiting for a heart transplant. Karl has restrictive cardiomyopathy in which the heart [...]

A couple of months ago, I posted about public defibrillators saving lives. While it’s true that emergency external defibrillators have saved thousands of lives, it’s also true that one in five units (about 164,000) sold in the past 10 years have been recalled or had an alert issued. A recent study also found [...]

I can’t resist the opportunity to promote National Women’s Health Week further especially because this banner is so wonderfully representative of ethnic diversity.
The tools to help you build a healthier life is a fantastic resource with a heart disease risk test that will provide more information on any areas where you might be [...]
