FIFA World Cup-Related Stress Not Good for Heart Health
Dr. Abdul Samet Tanko, a cardiologist at the National Cardiothoracic Centre, Korle-Bu of Ghana, warns football (soccer) fans to stay calm while watching the FIFA World Cup. He’s concerned about stress, emotions, excitement, and disappointment leading to high blood pressure, stroke, and heart attacks.
Football should not be a religion; it should not be a matter of life and death. It is full of surprises, thus let us be prepared to accept the disappointments, just as we celebrate the joy and excitements that come with it.
Patients with heart problems would do themselves good if they abstain from viewing or monitoring live matches, Instead, they should watch recasts.
This would help them avoid unnecessary stress and emotional distress.
Try telling that to Alan, our resident b5media football fanatic.
