Hearty Habits #7: Meditating for Health
Today’s Hearty Habits come from Laura Bzowy, writer of CFS Squared, a blog about chronic fatigue and immune dysfunction syndrome (CFIDS). FYI, the CDC says that chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) can be as debilitating as severe heart disease and patients may experience irregular heartbeat. Let’s see how Laura
maintains her peaceful equilibrium.
I aim to meditate 5 times a week, for 40 minutes or more. Currently I am at 3-4 times a week.
I took a class 2 months ago on Mindfulness Bassed Stress Reduction, based on the teachings of Jon Kabat-Zinn. It’s really good for letting go of my stress, and after a session of meditating my energy just skyrockets (really good for people who suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome).
Now if only I could figure out how to do it first thing in the morning, then I would be good to go all day long. But since I start work at 6 am, it seems just a little impossible to do that for the time being….although I do try to sneak in a few minutes during my work day.
Thanks, Laura! Now let’s all say, “Ommmmm.”
