Hearty Habits #16: Eating Heart Healthy

The slender Kim Banks at Blog Fabulous is here today. In addition to eating carefully, part of her ability to stay healthy must be staying busy too. She’s also owner of The Pet Set - Elegant Card & Stationery for our Fabulously Socialized Companions.

Ok…this may annoy some folks, and no disrespect to those working really hard with weight issues.

My weight, since I was in high-school, has not changed too much. (High school was back in the days of Saturday Night Fever). (fluctuates between 98 lbs and 109) Not sure what that is in stones.

I have a pair of jeans that are more than ten years old and they still (kinda) fit.

The reason is partly genetic, but partly because of how I’ve taught myself to eat and cook.

I am a “grazer”…I eat many small meals throughout the day…I wouldn’t even call them meals, they are like small appetizers. Those small items seem to satisfy me…and I don’t think I’ve ever finished my entire plate at dinner time.

I don’t eat (significant amounts) after 8:00pm…

I cannot eat mass produced foods (i.e., fast food, or processed foods) I get terrible stomach aches if I do. I cook with tons of olive oil and fresh produce…I support local farmers and purveyors (fish guy, butcher guy)…

I don’t eat sweets, except for fruit and some ice cream…loooove Ben and Jerry’s “Phish Food”…for those outside the states, it is this obscene mixture of luscious flavors.

And, don’t smack me, I don’t like chocolate.

But…I do drink beer and love a good martini. ;)

Sounds like a healthy diet our resident expert, Ruth, at Eating Fabulous would approve of.
