Grand Rounds 3(1) at Tech Medicine
Grand Rounds celebrates its second anniversary this week at Dr. Enoch Choi’s Tech Medicine. A fantastic issue celebrating the best of health and medicine blogging. Everyone who participates is making this world a healthier and happier place for all of us. I’m proud to be a part of it!
I submitted my post about Beatrice Vance, who died of a heart attack in an emergency department’s waiting room in July. Other bloggers voiced their opinions as well.

Of course, we all know that Beatrice Vance’s death was a tragic mistake many people are regretting now. Healthcare professionals aren’t perfect nor should we expect them to be. The best way we patients can avoid the same fate is by becoming informed and empowered. Know the symptoms of a heart attack, stroke, or cardiac arrest and insist on prompt medical attention for yourself or for the loved one you accompanied to the hospital. Don’t assume that other people will take care of it. In the end, you are your own best advocate.
