Heart Healthy Restaurants
Pssst. Let you in on a little secret.
If you love to eat out, check out Healthy Dining Finder. Supported by a research grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the 5 A Day The Color Way campaign, the Healthy Dining Finder grew out of a series of healthy restaurant guides for Southern California.
Healthy Dining Finder aims to include a wide range of restaurants – from fast food to fine dining, from one-unit independents to large chains, representing dozens of types of cuisines – even juice bars, cafeterias, home meal solutions, and more. And while some of the participating restaurants specialize in offering very “health-conscious dishes,” our goal is to identify “better for you choices” at all manner of restaurants.
They’re not set to launch for another few months, but you can ask your favorite restaurant to join Healthy Dining Finder (for a fee).

Hi Barbara,
Dining out is tricky when you have strict dietary requirements. Fast food restaurants have nutritional info pamphlets you can check. Or if you have a favorite restaurant where you can ask that they omit salt from the dish so you can add it yourself, that might help.
You may find this eating out guide from the American Heart Association helpful.
Thanks for visiting A Hearty Life. I hope to hear from you again!
