Jason Calacanis Living A Hearty Life
Web entrepreneur and former AOL VP Jason Calacanis is on a mission and it has nothing to do with making money off the Internet. He’s started a fatblogging movement to lose weight. His letter to Scott Heiferman yesterday was both sad and thought-provoking:
If you can’t support your friend in getting fit then you can go ahead and unsubscribe–I can live with that. Just because you’re lucky enough to have the figure of Kate Moss (i.e. 130 pounds when you’re soaking wet) doesn’t mean you can ignore that fact that I’m having a crisis right now (i.e. I’m 36, overweight, and depressed about it).
Awwww. The truth is, all of us could be doing something to improve our health even if you’re stick skinny. Jason is actively finding ways to lose weight and get healthy but understands that changing your lifestyle can be a lonely business. I find it very impressive that he’s harnessing his influence to help others get fit. What have you done today to live a heartier life and what have you done to help others do the same?
FYI, the American Heart Association has a movement of their own called Start! that’s calling on everyone to start walking, start eating right, and start living a healthy lifestyle.
One hour of walking = Two more hours of life!
I’ll try not to think about what would equal two LESS hours of life. I suspect brownies don’t help much. ;)
Update: b5media CEO Jeremy Wright has also written about his goal to lose weight and be healthier!

[…] It seems that everyone is jumping aboard the fat blogging bandwagon. Which is good! I think this showcases that members of blogging community can (an do) help eachother. It is very exciting to see a movement on the Internet that is focused on being healthy… so I thought I would take it to the extreme. […]

Ha ha. I’m going to start my little Vanity Fair diet on Monday… Going to live it up at the Northern Voice conference. I heard there is a chocolate fountain!

Jeremy David: I hate to tell you that the dress you chose for the Oscars isn’t going to fit if you don’t get on that diet RIGHT THIS MINUTE! ;)

ha ha damn it, you are right.
Maybe I should just give up and wear my black one? I’ve heard it’s a more flattering colour.
I guess I should start fasting for next year’s Oscars.
