Dr. Archie Roberts and The Living Heart Foundation
With Damien Nash’s recent death, I’m sure many football players are thinking about their own risk of heart disease and sudden death from cardiac arrest. I’ve previously written about football players’ higher risk of heart disease, especially those who are retired. In this video, Dr. Archie Roberts, a former NFL quarterback for the Cleveland Brown and Miami Dolphins, talks about the Living Heart Foundation and a football player’s health.

Dear Dr. Roberts,
my husband, Barry Brown, and I met you at the recent GW Living Heart Foundation check up for retired players. When I received the results in the mail last week I faxed the report to my brother, Dr. John McCabe, in N.Y. Coincidentally, John knows you from years ago when you were a resident. Small world. I have power of attorney for Barry (you may recall he has a diagnosis of Dementia of the Alzheimers type (plus prostate cancer). What does the high calcium count mean? If my brother should call or e mail you with questions about Barry, you have my permission to talk to him. Thanks for caring about “the old guys”.
Jean
