NBA Player LaMarcus Aldridge Has Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome
Portland Trail Blazers basketball player LaMarcus Aldrige has been diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, a heart condition characterized by rapid heartbeat and fainting during strenuous physical activity. Despite this, LaMarcus could return to basketball this summer. He first experienced symptoms in a game against the Los Angeles Clippers on March 31.
Teenager Ben Dunne was also diagnosed with Wolff-Parkison-White Syndrome recently and underwent surgery to correct the heart defect. Most likely, the surgery involved radiofrequency or catheter ablation to destroy the heart tissue causing irregular electrical conduction. The biggest scandal was the six week wait Ben had to endure in order to get treatment because the hospital had only two heart monitors and he had to wait for his turn. Luckily, £2,000 was raised to buy an extra one for the hospital.
No doubt an NBA star like LaMarcus won’t have to wait an extra second!
