Do You Know CPR?

by Kendra James, RN on June 18th, 2007

222cpr.jpgDo you have CPR certification? Would you know what to do if you witnessed someone having a heart attack? And what to do if that very same person’s heart stopped beating? Just a few questions to ponder. I guess I have always taken for granted my healthcare background and knowledge based on that. Of course I know CPR and could probably resuscitate someone with my eyes closed, but could I do that if I were not a nurse?

I would have the want and nerves to attempt CPR but might not have the same success. And the more I think about it, I wonder if my in-laws, who watch my kids occasionally, or even hubby knows what to do. Local CPR classes are less than $50 dollars and certification stays good for 2 years. I think that is a small price to pay for the knowledge that is offered.

I think I am going to hold my own lil’ class with my parents, in-laws and hubs. Heck, I will even teach my 3 girls. You never know when they might be able to use it. Why do I have to ponder such topics? Why can’t I just think about what color polish to use on my nails? LOL!
