Okay Females, How Much Sleep Do You REALLY Get?
After yesterday’s post I began thinking… how much sleep do women really get? While at work this AM I asked around and found that for most, 6 hours was a good night.
Unfortunately I am in this category. I go to bed at 11 PM with good intentions of getting 7.5 hours of sleep but between 3 kids, one who uses a nebulizer machine regularly, a snoring hubby and a head that just won’t turn “off”, I get about 5 hours nightly. Not nearly enough. Will I be the next to develop hypertension? It is a scary thought and one that women need to explore.
If you are a female reader, I want to know… how much sleep do you REALLY get? Not the, “well I get about 8 hours a night because that is what I know I should say” but the real deal. Let me in on your sleeping habits. I am really curious to see if even among us, there is a correlation between high blood pressure and lack of sleep.

I sleep 7-8 normally, but often 9-10 on weekends. This was a recent change, up from 5-6 for years. I’ve hated to sleep because I don’t get as much done. But then, when my sleep would get cut way down, I’d get shingles again. Since I’ve started sleeping eight hours regularly, I haven’t had shingles.

Thanks Olivia. That is a great improvement, 7-8 hours over 5-6 hours. My hope is tat as my kids get older, I will be able to sleep more. At least have a less interrupted sleep! And I am glad that you have found something to help in your shingle outbreaks, they are painful indeed. Have great week! :)
Kristen, thanks for the link at livelywomen.com, much appreciated. :)

Oh, Kendra, I forgot to say that I have fantastic blood pressure (but I always have, never high).

Olivia-That is great! I also have very good blood pressure and always have, but will that change as I get older, live with diabetes longer and get so little sleep? Time will tell, I do what I can… eat right, exercise and am very active. :)

I am jumping in again with the “about me” stuff. I usually go to bed at 10 but by 1:30-2:00 I am back awake. I struggle to get back to sleep and if I’m lucky by 3:30 I doze off again. I usually have to get up by 5:15 to be to work on time. I am a 53 year old woman with high blood-pressure and I’m so tired. I wonder if my lack of sleep adds to my problem.

I get around 5 hours a night and at the moment, I’m having problems with my blood pressure being too low. I thought it was kind of cool at first, but now I feint quite frequently. My lack of sleep hasn’t seemed to affect my blood pressure.
