Beet Juice Combats High Blood Pressure
Researchers at Barts and The London School of Medicine have discovered that drinking just 500ml of beetroot juice a day can significantly reduce blood pressure.
Man oh man is all I can say. I so do not like beets and I bet I would like beet juice even less. None the less, the the ingestion of the dietary nitrate contained within beetroot juice results in decreased blood pressure. Now that I think about it doesn’t V8 have beet juice in it? I do love V8 but there isn’t anywhere near 500ml of beet juice there.
Ok, I will try beet juice. That is my promise to y’all. I will let you know how it goes…

Kendra, what about a good ole fashioned bowl of borscht (beet soup)? Maybe drinking or sipping it hot like broth is more appealing than a cold shot?
I’m a big fan of borscht. But then again, I did live in Poland for 2 years so I admit it could be conditioning.
Glad to hear its good for me!

I blogged about this, too. They believe the effect is due to the nitrite content of beet juice. If it is indeed so, perhaps we may be seeing nitrate dietary supplements in the market in the future?
